Another Hole in the Head

Thanks to the fine people at Another Hole in the Head for making “Then Came the Firestorm” an official selection at their 18th annual film festival. My poetry film is one of a dozen shorts playing in the “Strictly Local 1” group, a diverse collection of short films made by filmmakers in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can catch the official screening on December 4, 2021 at the New People Cinema in Japantown (San Francisco, California). Or watch it online from December 1 – 15. Learn more at AHITH.com.

All-Day Absurdity

Thanks to Absurd Art House for selecting my short poetry film “Then Came the Firestorm” for the first-ever Absurd Art House Film Festival, taking place on October 23 at the Criterion Music Hall Theatre in Blue Town. That’s right, this coming Saturday, if you happen to find yourself in Sheerness (Kent, UK), head on over to the lovely theatre on High Street for an all-day lineup of absurd films (including mine).

Make Art Not Fear

I’m excited to report that my short poetry film “Then Came the Firestorm” has been named an Official Selection at the Make Art Not Fear festival – coming to you all the way from Porto, Portgual. But wait … there’s more! Another one of my poetry films (“Dear Leviathan”) was also selected! Super huge thanks to the organizers of this cool festival, the one with the best name.

Live at the Roxie

Thanks to SF IndieFest for selecting “Then Came the Firestorm” for the 2021 San Francisco Independent Short Film Festival. What a huge honor to see my film screened at the Roxie Theater – a movie house I’ve been visiting since the beginning of time! (Well, at least since 1978 or thereabouts.)

Film Fest Update: “Then Came the Firestorm”

I’m very excited to report that my short film “Then Came the Firestorm” is an official selection at the San Francisco International Short Film Festival, which will take place online (Sept 17 – 26) and – here’s the super exciting part – at the Roxie Theater (Sept 18) in my hometown of San Francisco, California.

I’ve been attending movies at the Roxie for longer than I can remember … so it’s mindblowing to think my short film will be shown at this landmark venue.

Film Fest Update: “He Runs”

I’m excited (and honored) to report that “He Runs” has been selected to play at a number of film festivals in 2021. The most recent selections include:

– Sidewalk Film Festival, Birmingham, AL (Aug 23 – 29)

– Montreal International Black Film Festival (Sept 22 – Oct 3)

– Midwest Video Poetry Festival, Wisconsin (Oct 8 – 9)

Music Video Winner !!!

I’m happy to announce that “Chernobyl” has been named winner of the Music Video category in May from Cult Critic Movie Awards in Kolkata, India.

Haven’t seen my short film yet? You can watch it here (password = blast).

“Chernobyl” was inspired by my travels in Europe in 1986. I was visiting a distant relative in Hamburg at the time. Though we were 800 miles away, I remember the fear as we watched the weather patterns on the news (are those clouds coming from the reactor?) and avoided fresh produce that might have been tainted by the blast. Hard to imagine it’s now a tourist attraction.

He Runs: World Premiere

Honored & Humbled. My short, short animated film “He Runs” is an official selection at the Halifax Black Film Festival … thank you to the organizers. And huge thanks to everyone who played a part in the movie (including Andrew Dixon for the inspired soundtrack).

Check out the festival online (Feb 23 – 28).
