Baby Reader

One of the best things about writing Breakfast with the Alien and Other Short, Short Stories has been hearing from old friends wanting to let me know they’re checking out my book.

Like this … I received a note recently from one of my former Taekwondo students letting me know that she and her 8-month-old daughter picked up a copy of Breakfast with the Alien at Green Apple Books in San Francisco.

It’s doesn’t get any better than this.

Five Things I’ve Learned in Five Years of Six String Communications

It’s been five years since I started Six String Communications.

From the beginning, I looked at Six String as an editorial adventure. I didn’t know what the journey would look like or where it would lead me, but I can say now, after five years, it’s been quite a ride. I’ve encountered grammatical twists and turns, syntactical ups and downs, and a few hairpin typos along the way. Through it all I’ve learned a lot about running a small business.

To commemorate my anniversary, I wrote about five key takeaways from being at the helm of Six String Communications. Read it here!

A Political Dance Tune?

Based on the Spotify data, this song has been played much more than any other on my Spiral Notebook Project album. Is it because it’s tagged as being “explicit” or is some other factor at work???

“I’m not the president … I’m not the queen … I’m not the sultan in the desert … it’s just little ol’ me.”

Not Waterproof

This photo was sent in by a  friendly reader after his 1.5-year-old son put Breakfast with the Alien in the washing machine. Books aren’t waterproof. It’s a good life lesson.

A New Video

Whether it’s a ghost town in the Sierras or a music studio in Oakland, hold on to those moments in time. Huge thanks to Michael Marsh for creating this video. And special thanks as always to all involved: John Vanderslice, Carly Bond, Robert Shelton, Jason Slota, Jacob Winik, and Henrik Kam.
